Priscilla Duncan was born and raised in Altus and now she and her husband are the proud parents of three wonderful children who attend Altus public schools. Santiago is 15, Samydah is 12, and Lily is 10. Duncan wanted her children to experience the same great experience that she had growing up in the community.
“My husband and I chose to raise our three children in this small town surrounded by family and friends. The community as a whole has always been so kind to us,” Duncan said.
Duncan and her family are very involved in the Altus athletic community. Santiago currently runs for the Altus High School cross country team, will play soccer in the spring, and referees at the Altus Soccer Club. Samydah played volleyball for the junior high and currently plays for the Altus Soccer Club and Lily is very active in gymnastics. Duncan’s children are following in her footsteps and she is thankful for the opportunities that the Altus community provides in athletics and academics for its young people. Her favorite thing is being able to cheer on the athletes from the sidelines and said that being able to witness the student-athletes support one another has been a blessing to watch and be a part of.
“Growing up I had always been active in sports, whether it was playing or coaching,” Duncan said. “I enjoy helping develop kids physically and mentally. The feeling of accomplishment is so rewarding and that is what the cross country team strives for on a daily basis. They set individual goals that they continue to reach.”
Duncan often goes above and beyond to help assist with the athletic communities by providing support and assisting with team activities.
“This season I was able to help feed the runners at their cross country dinner, provide and set up a tarp weekly for the runners to rest on between races, and I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Altus Invitational.”
In their free time the Duncan family enjoys watching movies together, sharing meals as a family, and playing guess the animal at the dinner table.
