Megan Greer is a proud native of Altus and loyal Bulldog supporter. Greer has twin daughters, Kenli and Kelbi, and she is very involved in the community and frequently volunteers for school activities and participates in fundraising activities for Altus athletics.
“I have lived in Altus all of my 37 years,” Greer said. “I have strong family ties here in Altus and am thankful to get to raise my daughters here.”
The twins are sophomores at Altus High School and are members of the varsity cheer and varsity tennis teams. Kenli and Kelbi compete in both singles and doubles competitions.
Greer loves to watch her daughters compete and support Altus athletics. She knows that active participation in student-athletics is key for growth, development, and allows individuals to learn skills that they will carry with them throughout their lives.
“I think that student participation in athletics is highly beneficial in many ways,” Greer said. “As far as my girls go, I have watched them develop into great student athletes.”
Greer said that athletics requires student-athletes to focus on important developmental characteristics.
“Being held responsible for good grades, learning time management skills, and seeing the reward of hard work will definitely help them succeed for the rest of their lives,” Greer said.
Greer herself is very active in her contributions around the community and within the Altus athletic community.
“I do help with all of the fundraising for the cheer team,” Greer said. “T-shirt sales are our main fundraiser. I am also very active in the Bulldog Tennis Booster Club and the Adopt a Bulldog program for various sports.”
The fundraising has paid off and the Bulldogs have a new cheer and dance gym to look forward to.
“I wouldn’t call this a favorite memory, but sorting thousands of shirts in a dark hot basement most of the season last year with the other moms was definitely memorable,” Greer said. “Thankfully next season the new facility will be ready!”
