Hobart High School senior basketball player Justice Johnson shared with VYPE that he plays both “point guard and big man when needed”. Johnson also spoke about what it takes to be a successful basketball player. He highlighted the key characteristics he has spent time developing explaining that “It’s taken a lot of hard work, passion, and dedication”. To accomplish this he has relied on his brothers to lead by example as he shared that he has “always looked up to them”, and they in turn have kept an eye out for him “always making sure I’m headed down the right path” , said Johnson.
Of course there have been other influential people outside of his family that had helped him as well whether or not they knew it. Starting with his favorite teacher “Mrs Quintero she’s always talking to me about my games, and supports me on the good and bad games”. Johnson also mentioned “Dom Scott from Apache Oklahoma he’s one of my brothers we play AAU together so it’s always a pleasure to be able to compete against him”. Even mentioning teammate “Trey Eschiti he’s competitive, physical, and makes me work harder than anyone else does”. Although he also stated “Really all of my teammates are appreciated, we all have our own roles to make this team the best it can be”.
Johnson recalled being with his teammates as “the horn went off in Enid, Oklahoma and me and my teammates were headed to the state tournament”. That was a great memory of his and a feeling he will never forget. He tries to bring that same energy to each game so that “other schools and teams know when they play Hobart they’ll have to bring their best game if they want a chance at winning”. Johnson spends most of his free time working on this saying that “I’m not involved in any clubs or campus activities unless I’m really needed. I try to focus on my grades, and craft to be the best player I can be”. He does, however, enjoy seeing his brother, Jalen Johnson “post about college basketball”
Finally, Johnson said “I love this game, and I appreciate VYPE for contacting me. It really means a lot. I look forward to having the best year, and playing the best basketball I’ve ever played”.
