Comanche’s Myles Ellis – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Dusty Corp Shelter Insurance

By: Hunter Ferguson

Comanche High School senior Myles Ellis spoke to VYPE about his basketball career. Ellis, who plays the guard position for his team said “Being successful in this sport requires lots of hard work, dedication, and many extra hours spent in the gym”. Going on to share that it is the competition itself that motivates him to put in the work telling VYPE “ I enjoy challenging myself to set new goals each season and work throughout the season to reach those goals. Encouragement from my teammates and coaches allow me to do this”. Although he was quick to admit he also enjoys “working against my twin brother Dillon the most in practice. We are very competitive and he pushes me to be better each day”.

Ellis also said “I would say the least appreciated player on the team is Cooper Epperson. Coop is a Sophomore on our team who has improved tremendously since he started in junior high. He puts in a ton of hours outside of practice to be better. He is a great teammate who would do anything for his team”. When Ellis himself was a sophomore just two years ago he experienced his “career highlight” when he was able to play his older brother Landon recalling “We came back from being down 31 points to beat Paul’s Valley in the Lindsey Tournament”.

When he isn’t improving his game Ellis is representing his school through his involvement in “NHS, Student Council, NTHS, BPA, FFA, and FCA” all of which he proudly participates in.

It was clear in talking to Ellis that family means the world to him so it came as no surprise when he expressed to us that his dad is his “biggest role model”. Saying “he is always there for me and pushes me to be the best at whatever it is I am doing on and off the court”.
