It’s a family tradition for Kayla Venable, a freshman at Alex High School, to be involved in raising livestock and being a member of the local FFA chapter. For Venable, following in her sibling’s footsteps was an easy decision.
“I first got involved in FFA when I was younger, I have been showing livestock since the second grade. My older siblings did FFA, and my dad did too so it just matter of time when I could join the FFA,” said Venable.
Venable is involved in many activities with the Alex chapter from showing livestock to judging, Venable is always on the move.
“I am involved in showing livestock, livestock judging, creed, and opening ceremonies. What I most enjoy about FFA are the friendships you make and the lifetime opportunities you get,” said Venable.
The freshman said several people within the FFA family, and her own family have been big influences in her life.
“My biggest influencer in life has mostly like been my dad, my sister, and a former ag teacher here at Alex, Chris Hall. They have been my biggest influencers in life because they taught me to never give up, even when life gets tough and hard, and you will feel like quitting, just remember why you are doing it,” said Venable.
Also a member of the softball, track, and powerlifting teams at Alex, Venable she loves competing and being around her teammates.
“What I love most about the softball program is we have a coach that is willing to make us better and help us do better than we did the year before. Something I love most about my team and teammates is that they are very supportive and encouraging no matter what,” said Venable.
