For as long as Elk City High School’s Aubry Shelton can remember, she has had some type of involvement with 4H or FFA.
“I’ve been involved with FFA since freshman year but started out in 4H at a very young age. My parents have encouraged me ever since I was young,” said Shelton.
Knowing the FFA chapter would offer a lot of opportunities in high school, Shelton made the decision to join the chapter and she’s been an active member since.
“I really enjoy meeting new people, traveling, and working with livestock,” said Shelton.
Now a junior at Elk City High School, Shelton said she shows sheep and is serving as an officer with the chapter.
“I am the Vice President on the officer team. I also try to do a little bit of everything,” said Shelton.
As an officer, Shelton is always willing to speak with students who have an interest in joining the FFA chapter. Her advice to anyone interested is simple; do it!
“My advice for a student would be to do it! Step out of your comfort zone and try something new. There is always something for everyone in FFA,” said Shelton.
Shelton said her family has been a big influence in her life, especially someone she is very close to.
“My Nana B. My Nana has shown me how to be a strong and confident woman and has taught me to always go for what I want,” said Shelton. After high school, Shelton plans to attend college and pursue a career as a dental hygienist.
