Josh Cossey
Altus Cross Country
If you like an unsung hero story, then look no further than Josh Cossey at Altus High School.
The sophomore is a member of the varsity cross country team and head coach Jaime Reyna
had nothing but good things to say about the young runner.
“Josh has a great attitude and is always willing to help people. He also does a great job in
the classroom,” said Reyna.
Cossey grew up playing other sports like football, baseball and running track, but cross
country has become his favorite.
“I am excited to try to reach my personal time goals and improve throughout the season.
My teammates are great friends, and we encourage each other to do well. Aiden Choppa is
running well this year and Jacob Salazar and Andrew Mickley are doing great,” said Cossey.
Cossey said he enjoys being a student-athlete at Altus High. He’s a member of National
Honor Society, FFA, ATI and the 4-H Club.
“We have great teachers, coaches and training staff. Coach Reyna is a great coach and
teacher. I like all of the science classes, and coach Reyna was my favorite teacher,” said
Cossey.
Cossey said he wants his class to be remembered for setting a good example for younger
students who follow his class. Once his time at AHS comes to an end, Cossey said he would
like to study Geology and Geochemistry in college.
