Calista Pavelschak is a senior pom squad member at Altus High School.
Through pom, Calista has learned leadership, commitment, and teamwork.
“I am passionate about Pom because it’s a very good way to express feelings
without using words.
“My favorite part about being on a team is helping out new members of the pom
squad and becoming their friend,” she said.
Calista proudly represents AHS by spreading school spirit cheering for her team
every Friday night.
“My favorite pom memory has definitely been last year at regionals when we
found out that we were going to state for the first time in all three years I’ve been on pom squad,” said Calista.
Calista’s Catholic faith is very important to her.
“The best advice I have ever been told is to give my worries to God and pray on
what I’m struggling with,” she says.
Calista is thankful for the love and support of her family but is most inspired by
her older sister Jocelyn. “She (Jocelyn) has the most genuine heart and has always been my best friend. She is always there when I need her and she gives me the best advice,” said Calista.
Fellow pom senior, Gracen Hawthorne has left the biggest impression on Calista.
“Every year with Gracen has been such an amazing experience. I deeply admire
her leadership and integrity and I’m so glad I’ve gotten to know her better and become best friends with her these past four years,” said Calista.
A nice break from her busy school schedule would be a trip to Greece with her
family.
Calista is the current NHS Vice President of Membership, Student Body
Secretary, and is in Link Crew, Bluharmonix, Varsity Chorale, KAY Klub, and the All
School Production. She also dances at Off the Wall Dance Productions and Cirque
Dance Studio.
