SAYRE EAGLES
Coach: CRAIG HIXON
1-9
OFFENSE
With the beginning of a new football season, hopes are high at Sayre High School. Head coach Craig Hixon says they will have some things to work on, but he is looking forward to what his team can accomplish this season. “There is a lot of excitement about Sayre football,” he said. “Offseason went well, and our numbers are up. Most of our players competed in powerlifting and we are much stronger. We are still a young team but have gained game experience from the past season. We expect to be more competitive this year.” The Eagle offense will be led by the running back duo of Ayden Hendershot (6-1, 206, Sr.) and Hunter Hanrahan (5-8, 160, Jr.), who will both work to find the open running lanes. Ryan Johnston (6-2, 170, Sr.) will play quarterback and work to get the team to the end zone. Offensive linemen Parker Harrell (5-10, 170, Sr.), Kaden Beaird (5-9, 190, Jr.), and Deontae Thomas (6-2, 190, Sr.) have worked hard throughout the summer and are ready to keep the defense from finding their way into the backfield.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles will look to improve what was a struggling defense from last season. Taking care of the dirty work up front will be Zeke Curtis (5-10, 178, So.), Bradyn Mossburg (6-3, 167, So.), and Brock Helton (6-0, 190, So.), who will be anchoring the defensive line. At linebacker will be Devon Mosser (5-7, 140, Sr.) and he will look to slow down the run or the pass, whatever the defense throws at him. In the secondary, Zane Allen (5-9, 145, Jr.) and Mason Racadio (5-9, 145, Sr.) will keep the receivers at bay and will work to slow down the opponent’s big plays.
