LAWTON WOLVERINES
Coach: RYAN BREEZE
7-4
OFFENSE
In total, Lawton will have six offensive starters back from one year ago, most of them in the trenches. Linemen were pivotal during a winning 2022 season and will set the team’s offensive standard. Center Junior Brock (5-10, 250, Jr.) is a veteran’s veteran and has the most experience within the group. In the backfield, Nate Jones (5-10, 200, Jr.) had an electric sophomore year accruing over 1,000 rushing yards. The Wolverines will base out of a one-back set with intentions to spread the field to force opposing defenses to cover sideline-top-sideline. Jayden Omstead (6-1, 190, Jr.), formerly a student at nearby MacArthur, will assume the role of starting quarterback. The game plan is to get the ball into the hands of Lawton’s “superstars,” head coach Ryan Breeze said. Pene Vaisagote (6-3, 175, Jr.), a “dynamic wide receiver,” and Tyrone Dean (5-9, 165, Jr.) are among the team’s best pass-catchers.
DEFENSE
Lawton’s defense will base in a 4-3 this year with intentions to be “disruptive” against the run and pressure opposing quarterbacks. The Wolverines have five returning starters on defense. Defensive end Perry Graves (6-3, 215, Jr.) will provide size, athleticism and versatility on his side, opposite Seth Pewewardy (6-1, 200 Jr.). Tyzel Zachry (5-10, 220, Jr.) will anchor the interior. Its linebacking corps will feature two tenacious defenders in Tamarcus Malone (6-0, 210, Sr.) and David Quataishat (6-0, 195, Jr.). Lawton’s secondary will strive to capitalize on the rushers’ quarterback pressure to “allow the athletic back end to make plays.” The aforementioned Dean, perhaps the team’s most versatile player producing on all three sides of the ball, will be tasked with the ball-hawking, but he does much more than catch picks. Breeze on Dean: “Tyrone runs well and is not afraid to stick his nose in and make a big hit from the corner position.”
