When a high school athlete puts on their uniform, they know that they are playing for more than just themselves. They are also playing for the school and community that supports them and cheers for them. Jaci Hartman is a golfer at Turner High School and she says that she always tries to be a positive example of her school.
“We are a little school and we are making a name for ourselves in golf,” she said. “When people hear Turner, they think of golf and it makes me proud to make a name for our little school.”
Hartman is wrapping up her junior year. She invests a lot of time and effort so that she can be at her best when she steps out on the course. Jaci also keeps her goals in front of her to keep herself motivated.
“It takes a lot to be successful,” she said. “Practicing hours on end and working on my mental game with my coaches. But my goal is to be able to go to my dream college and that is what I am working towards.”
During her time playing golf, Jaci has enjoyed making a lot of great memories. But for her, there is one that stands out as her favorite.
“Winning the state individually at my home course is definitely the top moment of my career so far,” she stated.
Jimmy Voight is the golf coach at Turner and he says that Hartman is an outstanding golfer and a great person.
“She is one of the top female high school golfers in the state, regardless of classification,” Voight said. “After winning the Class 2A Individual Championship this season, I look for her to have another solid season next year.”
