As the baseball season comes to a close, one player from Walters High School is finishing an exceptional career as a student-athlete.

Karson Coleman, a Walters senior, plays an astounding five sports for the Blue Devils. Coleman has helped his baseball team to a 22-7 record and a No. 18 ranking in Class 2A under head coach Craig Coheley. Big wins over Eisenhower, Lawton, Mangum and others have made this a season to remember for Coleman and the Blue Devils.

“What I love most about my teammates is the close relationships we have developed over the years and everyone’s positive attitudes,” said Coleman.

The catcher/pitcher takes the same positive attitude into the classroom. Coleman said his favorite subject is math, and his favorite teacher is Señora Franco.

“She makes Spanish class fun and always has lots of energy,” said Coleman.
A member of the Spanish Club, Coleman also serves as a teacher’s aide. Coleman said after he graduates his plan is to attend Southern Nazarene University where he will play football in the Fall. Away from sports, Coleman said he enjoys hanging out with friends.

The senior said his most memorable moment as a student-athlete came on the basketball court.

“Winning the first round of the area tournament in basketball in double overtime is my most memorable moment,” said Coleman.

Coleman said his grandmother, Nana, gets credit for always believing in him and encouraging him to do his best.

“She always goes above and beyond to help me out in any way she can,” said Coleman.
