Weatherford Girls Searching For State Title Repeat – Presented By More than Medicine

Weatherford girls track is returning one of the best cores in the state from last year’s 4A team championship year.

“Seniors Jordan Hoffman and Morgan Mouse, along with junior Lilly Ray, will lead this team to another successful season,” Weatherford head coach Kaleb Fischer said. “We are excited to get started and see what these girls can do again this year.”

The Eagles claimed state with a total team score of 128.5, over 30 points above second-place finisher Cache. Hoffman was part of a 4×400 relay that won state last year, 4×400 relay that took second, a 4×200 that took second and won state individually in the 800m with a time of 2:18.03.

“Jordan is strong both in athletics and academics. She strives to be the best at whatever she does and this shows in the classroom,”

Mouse ran on the 4×200 and 4×400 relays that won second as well as the 4×100 relay that placed fourth. She placed fourth in the individual 400 with a 60.11. “Morgan is usually quiet but always does things right. She has always done anything I ask of her,” Fischer said. “Every year, I have moved her around and put her on different relays and in different individual events and she never complains. Every time, she steps up and performs at the highest level and makes her team better.”

Ray, perhaps already one of the most decorated runners in the state with two years left to race, is a four-time champion in the 200m (twice), the 100m and the 4×200.

“[Ray] is an extremely talented and hard-working athlete who strives to be the best, not just in our class, but the whole state,” Fischer said.
