Duncan boys tennis returns strong core, exciting rookie this spring – Presented by RibCrib

Duncan boys tennis is “looking to build off the good season” it had last year, head coach Darren Cobble said.

“We are down with a few big injuries,” Cobble said, “but our depth will let us rebound with the ‘next man up’ mentality.”

Jonah Link, a junior who qualified for the 5A state tennis championships in No. 1 doubles last spring, returns for an anticipated spring.

“Jonah is looking to have a great season in our toughest spot,” Cobble said. “He has put a lot of hard work in this last year, and I am excited to see how his season unfolds.

Two other returning qualifiers, seniors Renjie Lin and Carson Hughes, will have a crack at making state this year. Lin placed seventh individually in No. 2 singles last year. Hughes placed third in No. 2 doubles.

Brilen Davis, a freshman, comes up after a runner-up finish in No. 1 doubles as an eighth grader.

“[Davis] is looking to have an immediate impact as a freshman in one of our doubles spots,” Cobble said.
