Hi, what are you looking for?

Merritt

Q&A with Merritt’s Aubrey Lamar – Presented By Great Plains Bank

VYPE: What has cheer taught you that you use in your daily life?

Aubrey: Cheerleading has taught me how important it is to put a smile on even when it’s hard.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about cheerleading?

Aubrey: I am passionate about cheerleading because it has always been in my life. I love being a role model for little cheerleaders and getting the opportunity to represent my high school and hype up our athletes.

VYPE: When and how did you get into playing your sport?

Aubrey: When I was 5, I started cheerleading at Cheer Texas in Amarillo, Texas and I have loved it ever since. I remember growing up and watching my cousin cheer for her high school and I knew I wanted to do the same when I got older.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher and why?

Aubrey: My favorite teacher is Mrs. Kiener. When I first moved to Elk City, she welcomed me and has been my biggest fan since. She helps me in and out of school. I know I can come to her about anything. I am so thankful for all of her support.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Aubrey: The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Reni Leverett. Reni is always cheering me on in everything. She never fails to make me laugh. She has not only been an encouraging teammate but my best friend too. I am so grateful for her.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Aubrey: My favorite part about representing my high school is having the opportunity to not only cheer on my friends but my family too. This past year I got to cheer on my brother for his senior year. I love supporting my friends and watching them play.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of cheering for Merritt?

Aubrey: My favorite memory would be getting to cheer at the big house. Last year our girls’ basketball team made it to state and I had the amazing experience of cheering with my team. The excitement from all of the fans was unforgettable.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Aubrey: The best advice I have ever received would be to not take life so seriously. It makes life more enjoyable. You only live once so why not enjoy it.

VYPE: Is there anyone you would like to shout out or say thank you to?

Aubrey: I want to thank my No. 1 1 fan, my mom. Thank you for your infinite love and support in everything I do. I would also like to thank Mrs. Watkins for all of the cheer advice, and for always listening when I need someone to talk to.
