Amber Pocasset

Amber-Pocasset Spotlight – Sage Schenk – Presented by Bryan’s Car Corner

Varsity volleyball player Sage Schenk is a junior and outside hitter for head coach Suzanne Parker. Amber-Pocasset is ranked No.15 in Class 3A and have accumulated wins against Tipton, Corn Bible, Noble and Erick early in the season. Being part of the team is special to Schenk.

“What I love most about being a part of the volleyball team is how many friendships I have made with my teammates and the hustle and heart we put out onto the court. I especially love how hard we push each other and hold each other accountable. We might not win every game but at the end of the day we will all come back to our team that we call family,” said Schenk.

But volleyball is not her only activity. Schenk is heavily involved in FFA as well as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“I have been involved in the FFA organization for the last three years. But I have had a lifetime in agriculture. Ever since I was about two years old, I’ve been in and out of show barns and wheat fields. I was in the 4-H organization for seven years. After watching my brother show cattle for many years before me, I knew that that’s exactly what I wanted to do. But it was my dad who encouraged me to get involved in things such as public speaking and livestock judging,” Schenk said. “I am an active member on the livestock judging team which was state runner up and qualified for the American Royal Judging contest this fall, and I will also give public speeches again this spring.”

Schenk also serves as vice president for the 2022-23 officer team. The junior said she is proud to carry on this family tradition.

“I am proud I get to carry on my family tradition and serve my community in my corduroy jacket. And grateful for all the memories and friendships this organization has given me as they will last a lifetime,” said Schenk.
