Ashlynn Bruce is a junior and a psychology major at Cameron University. Bruce grew up in the Oklahoma City area and attended Yukon High School and Seminole State College before taking her talents to Cameron University.
Ashlynn said the biggest adjustment going from high school athletics to college was the amount of support she has at Cameron.
“My biggest adjustment from high school to college is having other people there to pick me up and help me and it not just being all me,” Ashlynn said. “Cameron was the best school because it wasn’t too big and it was a very friendly school.”
Ashlynn is a member of the Cameron softball team and whether she is on the field or in the classroom, there is always something fun to do and an opportunity to learn something new.
“I enjoying being able to see my friends every day at practice,” said Ashlynn. “I have enjoyed how well my professors have communicated with me and helped me.”
Like other juniors and seniors, Ashlynn is planning for a future after college. At present, Ashlynn said she would like to enter the dental field after college.
“After I graduate, I want to go to dental hygiene school.”
The standout softball player offered some advice to students who will make the transition from high school to college next year.
“Some advice I would give to kids coming to college is always keep trying even if something is hard because it will end up being okay in the end,” said Ashlynn.
Ashlynn is a utility player for the Aggies and has played a big role in the success of the team. According to cameronaggies.com, Ashlynn’s hobbies are hanging out with her friends and eating Jimmy John’s before every game. She also loves to work out and her dream job is serving as a doctor.
