A graduate of MacArthur High School in Lawton, LaMirracle Harris decided to attend Cameron University and has loved being part of the Cameron family.
“I am currently a junior at Cameron University,” said Harris. “I like that Cameron is a small campus because I’m able to get one-on-one time with my professors and it’s in my hometown, so you get family time as well.”
Harris made the decision to become part of the ROTC program at Cameron. It was a decision that opened her eyes to other possibilities around campus.
“I’m currently involved in the ROTC program and currently looking for more activities or organizations to join,” said Harris.
Harris is taking Military Science level II and is looking forward to having a military career once her time at Cameron University comes to an end.
“I plan to have a career in the military after I graduate. I would like to go into the U.S. Army and be part of the medical corps,” said Harris.
Like many college students entering for the first time, Harris had to make some adjustments to her routines to ensure she was keeping up with her studies.
“The biggest adjustment for me was getting the correct studying habit to prepare for my exams. I’m still struggling to find the best studying habit that works best for me,” said Harris.
The junior ROTC member offers this advice to anyone in high school who may be looking for a place to call home for the next four years.
“Cameron is a great place for students because it’s a small campus and that allows students to have one-on-one time with their professors. Also, a lot of the professors are very involved with their students and their goal is for them to be successful in their class which makes Cameron the right choice for anyone,” said Harris.
