When you are a part of a team, you have your teammates beside you ready to work with you against the opponent. But when the team is practicing, there are times that teammates will battle each other, not in a negative way, but to see who is better and to allow them to both grow and get better. Ramsey Jantzen says that he has a couple of teammates that help him and have made him a better athlete.
“On the football field, I battle the most with my teammate Kayson Paukei,” he said. “He always gives 100 percent effort and goes 1000 miles an hour. He pushes me to be a better player. And on the track, I battle the most with Tyron Alexander. No matter what, he tries to find any way he can to beat me, and his work ethic pushes me to work harder and keep pushing.”
Jantzen is a junior at Chickasha High School. Along with football and track, he is also a member of the school’s powerlifting team. Away from sports, he is a member of the National Honor Society, philosophy club, and the student council. As a Chickasha student-athlete, he says that while they play several different teams, there is one that is the most enjoyable to beat.
“My favorite opponent to beat in anything would have to be Anadarko,” Ramsey said. “They are our rivals in football, but it really carries over into everything. It is a truly awesome feeling when we defeat them.”
When he is not working on his game, competing, or doing his schoolwork, Ramsey enjoys checking out his social media. And he says that there is one person that he really enjoys following the most.
“My favorite person to follow on social media is actor Chris Pratt,” he said. “I think he is a funny guy, but I also admire his drive and his work ethic. His journey and the transformation in his life have been phenomenal. He went from being an average overweight guy who wasn’t supposed to make it far in his acting career, to a shredded movie star who is one of the most famous modern actors.”
