When Matthew Lankister first enrolled at Caddo Kiowa Technology Center, it was to insure he would have a skill once he graduates high school that he could use to start a career. The junior at Cyril High School is a two-sport athlete playing football and currently playing baseball.
“I decided to attend Caddo Kiowa Tech so I could get a steady paying job when I graduate and be able to like what I do,” said Lankister.
The HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) program at Caddo Kiowa Tech was the course of choice for Lankister. It’s a challenging course, but one that Lankister knew he would enjoy.
“I’m taking the HVAC course because it’s a good field to work in with steady pay and I know I would like the job of being an HVAC engineer,” said Lankister.
While attending classes at Caddo Kiowa Tech, Lankister said he has enjoyed the hands-on learning environment and the people and instructors at Caddo Kiowa Tech.
“I enjoy the new people I get to meet who work in the career that I chose. It’s good to know what I am learning now will help me after high school,” said Lankister.
Lankister said he has plans to continue his education after he graduates. His plan is to attend college and work toward his degree and beyond.
“I want to go to college and get my master’s degree in marketing,” said Lankister.
Having spent the year at Caddo Kiowa Tech, Lankister said he could offer some advice to anyone who is on the fence about attending a technical school.
“I would advise anyone choosing a course to learn about your career before picking a random class because at the point if you don’t like it, the course could be a waste of your time,” said Lankister.
Away from school and sports Lankister said he enjoys working out and being outdoors with his friends where they can hunt and fish.
