Chickasha’s Jacob Rempe – athlete spotlight presented by gerron smith, shelter insurance

There is someone in everyone’s life that has an impact on them and helps shape them into who they become. It could be a celebrity or professional athlete that they watch on television, or it could be someone that is part of their life and that they know very well. Jacob Rempe says that there are two men that have played a big role in who he has become, both as a person and as an athlete.

“My dad and my grandpa are the biggest role models in my life,” he said. “They have taught me a lot of life lessons that I can carry with me for the rest of my life. Also, they taught me how to play the game that I love.”

Rempe is a senior at Chickasha High School. He plays centerfield for the baseball team, a sport he has played since he was four years old. While he has had some great influences in his life, he has also done his share of work to get himself ready for competition.

“I have put in a lot of hard work over the years,” he said. “That is a lot of the reason for my growth as a player. I have also had to be dedicated to my sport. There are times that I have wanted to go hang out with friends or do something, but I knew that I needed to put in practice time.”

There have been a lot of memorable moments throughout his time playing baseball that have been special to Jacob. But out of all of them, he says that there is one that stands out as his favorite.

“I would have to say that the highlight of my career would be turning a triple play at Elgin last year,” he said. “That is a rare play and to be a part of one was a really cool experience.”

As a student at Chickasha, Rempe has had the opportunity to learn from a lot of different teachers, but he says that there is one that had the biggest influence.

“My favorite teacher has got to be coach Brewer,” he said. “He’s taught me how to be a leader, how to be responsible, and has taught me how to give it your all in everything you do.”
