One the high school years are over, students have to make a decision. After graduation, they can attend a college or university, they can head on into the workforce, or they can join the military. While they are in high school, students have the ability to get a head start on learning a specific trade or skill.

Karson Wilson is a senior at Amber-Pocasset High School and he also attends the Chickasha campus of Canadian Valley Tech. He says at first he was not sure about it but decided to join anyway.

“I toured the tech during my sophomore year,” he said. “But I didn’t feel like anything fit me. So before my senior year started I just decided to try something to see if I like it. I joined the Graphic Design program and I really enjoy it.”

Wilson says that while the program he is in may not be his first choice for what he wants to do with his life, it definitely gives him a backup in case something does not work out.

“I want to play basketball somewhere,” he stated. “But if that doesn’t work out then this is  giving me another way to make a living if I wanted to be a graphic designer.”

Karson has some advice for anyone that is on the fence about attending Canadian Valley Tech.

“Definitely get into something, even if you think you don’t fit in any of the classes. There are some really cool programs here.”

Wilson plays basketball as a student at Amber-Pocasset. He says that there are some great things that he enjoys about playing sports, but there is one thing that he really enjoys the most.

“I love when we beat an opponent that is better than us,” he said. “It feels like all of our hard work is paying off. I think my favorite memory of my time playing basketball would have to be when we won the Velma tournament. We played great as a team and we earned that tournament win together.”
