WESTERN HEIGHTS JETS
Coach – TIM MCCARTY
OFFENSE
The Jets find themselves in a rather unique situation heading into 2021. The Western Heights school district opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID. Head coach Tim McCarty made the most of the down time in the weight room with a core of around fifteen players. Still, it was especially tough for a first-year coach to go without much of any football related activities. Twenty-five Jets reported for Summer Pride which began on June 7th and even more players are expected when practice begins in August. “Right now we are just encouraging the players and helping them get back to normal as much as possible,” said McCarty. Western Heights will operate out of a pro-style attack with running back Cameron Chitwood (5-9, 185, Sr.) playing a major role on offense. Chitwood has above average speed and runs with low pad level.
DEFENSE
A pair of brothers, Jeremy Wohrley (5-9, 250, Jr.) and Chris Wohrley (5-11, 160, Sr.) have been extremely dedicated through the suspension of football. Jeremy will have a position on either side of the line with Chris playing some at outside linebacker and safety. McCarty has loads of experience coaching at the next level, spending three seasons as an assistant at Kansas State and eleven years as the head coach at East Central in Ada. No team may be more ready to get back on the gridiron than the Jets. The season begins in week zero against the high school version of East Central, and the Jets can’t wait to take flight again on the gridiron.
