OFFENSE

The Pirates enter this season ready to put last year behind them. Returning to play quarterback is Kole Carlson (5-11, 165, Jr.) after ending last year with 1,738 yards and 17 touchdowns. Running backs Lane Cocheran (6-1, 180, Jr.) and Oscar Russell (5-8, 150, Sr.) combined for 1,874 yards and 18 touchdowns and will look to continue to have an impact for the Pirates. Titan Thompson (6-2, 200, Jr.) is back at tight end, while Alex Eary (5-8, 150, Sr.) returns to play wide receiver. Guard Manny Russell (5-9, 205, Sr.) is back to lead the offensive line. 

DEFENSE

The defense returns seven starters from last season’s squad. Two of those that will be big time players for the defense are linebackers Carlson and Russell. The duo ended last season with 198 tackles and two interceptions. They will be a problem for opposing defenses to deal with again this season. Defensive ends Cylas Wilson (6-1, 235, Jr.) and Thompson teamed up for 87 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and one sack, and will try to increase those numbers. Eary and Cocheran both return to play cornerback. Last season, they registered 79 tackles and two interceptions.
