Hammon’s Henley West Athlete Spotlight Presented by Lipscomb Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram

Hammon High School junior Henley West excels at basketball. Considered a veteran of the sport, she has been playing basketball for 9 years. Henley plays the position of forward for the Hammon Warriors.

Henley is proud to represent her school and community, every time she is on the basketball court. Henley proclaimed, “It is a very big responsibility. It means a lot to wear Hammon across my jersey and to continue the tradition Hammon has had in the past.”

In regards to who are her role models, Henley looks towards family and her coaches. Henley stated, “My mom and dadare big role models. They push me to become better every day. Coach Jefferson pushed me to become a more experienced athlete and always wanted the best for me. He pushed me out of my comfort zone. Coach Conley also helped me by pushing me to become a great team leader.”

Asked if any particular teacher or faculty member has stood out during her academic career, Henley stated, “There have been many teachers who have impacted me, but over the last few years, my high school principal, Tyler Tignor, has always been ready to listen and share his advice. He makes my day every day and is always making me laugh.”

As to what it has taken for Henley to become successful in basketball, she stated, “Hard work, discipline, and knowing God is on my side.”

Many memories are made during high school sports. For Henley there is one particular memory that stands out. Henley stated, “Winning the 2023 Class B Girls state championship and being named 2023 State Tournament MVP are definitely highlights.”

Besides playing basketball and academics, Henley is involved in another extracurricular activity. Henley stated, “I am involved in Hammon FFA, where I have been a chapter officer for three years now.”

After graduating from high school, Henley intends on pursuing higher education, as well as involvment in college sports. Henley explained, “I plan to play college basketball and to pursue a degree in agribusiness. I am not sure where I want to attend college yet.”
