Hi, what are you looking for?

Elk city

9 Questions with Elk City’s Jayden Manning – Presented by First National Bank & Trust of Elk City

VYPE: What year are you?

Jayden Manning: Junior.

VYPE: Do you play any sports besides golf?

JM: No, I don’t.

VYPE: How’d your sophomore year go for you?

JM: Really good. I got to improve on my golf game and have a blast with my friends.

VYPE: Did you have the chance to compete at state?

JM: Yes, I did.

VYPE: How’d you do?

JM: Not the score I wanted, but I learned a lot.

VYPE: What did you learn?

JM: It was very Intimidating at first with it being my first time at state, but at the same time it was super exciting. I learned a lot about how your attitude can determine how the rest of your day goes and that you have a choice on what you dwell on. You can either sit and think about your mistakes or you can look back on what you did and make improvements.

VYPE: So with everything you learned last year, what are you focusing on primarily this season?

JM: Having a good attitude in everything that I do.

VYPE: They say golf is just as much mental as physical. How much does having a positive mindset set you apart?

JM: Being positive allows me to create a space in my mind for constructive criticism and space to find improvement without belittling myself. Not only that but makes my attitude towards others more welcoming.

VYPE: What’s your favorite color?

JM: Forest green.

VYPE: What’s your theme song?

JM: Good Day by Forest Frank.

VYPE: What’s one thing everybody should know about you but some don’t?

JM: I love art. I mean, like, sketching and stuff. I mainly like drawing landscapes, people or random things that stick out to me.

VYPE: Are art and golf similar in any way?

JM: They both have a special place in my heart for different reasons. Golf gives me a goal to shoot for and a chance to be outside (I love being outside), and art, I have freedom to do whatever I want and have something beautiful to look at in the end. Art is something that taught me how to trust the process.

VYPE: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

JM: I don’t know what specifically, but something that pleases God.
