Elk City High School senior Ameri Attebery is a dedicated track and field athlete for the Elk City Elks. Ameri runs the 100m hurdles, 100m dash, and the 300m hurdles. Many would consider Ameri a veteran at track and field, having participated in the sport since 7th grade.
As to what it means for Ameri to represent Elk City as a track and field runner, Ameri elated, “Representing my school and community while running track is the best of both worlds. Not only do I get to be in the sport I love but I get to represent one of the best towns.”

Most students have a favorite teacher that has stood out to them during their schooling. In the case of Ameri, this person happened to be a school administrator. She stated, “The teacher that has had the biggest impact on my life would be Mr. Shelton. He is the Vice Principal at the Junior High. He always makes me feel welcome and appreciated when I’m around him.”
High school athletics are filled with many special memories. For Ameri, that moment happened at a competitive level. Ameri stated, “The highlight moment of my career is last year at the regionals track meet, where I made not one, but two personal records.”
Besides being involved with track and field, Ameri is a member of the National FFA Organization at Elk City High.
After graduating from Elk City High School, Ameri plans on furthering her education. Ameri explained, “My plan is to go to college, and to become a dental hygienist.”
