Rush Springs’ Lilly Ball – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By RibCrib

Current FFA chapter President and three-sport student-athlete, Lilly Ball, has a full plate for her junior year at Rush Springs High School.

If playing softball, and basketball and participating in track and field wasn’t enough, she’s also a member of the yearbook staff, National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, and the Oklahoma Indian Honor Society. For Ball, there is nothing like FFA and the relationships she has built through the program.

“I first got involved in FFA in my eighthgrade year. At the beginning of my eighth-grade year my mom had been talking about how she thought I would like FFA and that she loved it but Kinley Bratcher, an upperclassman friend of mine, really pushed me to join, so I gave it a shot,” said Ball. “What I love most about the FFA is the close relationships you make. Not only around where you’re from but across the state.”

Ball said she is taking on public speaking and will start floriculture this year. She will not show animals but loves being around them.

“Many people think FFA is just about showing animals, but there is so much more to it. There are many different ways for you to get plugged in and have so much fun. I would say give everything a chance, you will never you if you like it if you don’t try it,” said Ball.

Ball mentioned her parents being a big influence in her life and how she can always count on them to be there to support her. Ball is undecided on what life will look like after high school, but for now, being in FFA and playing softball with her teammates is enough. “What I love most about being on the softball team is the friendships you
make and growing my ability to work as a team while doing something I love. I also play basketball and track and field,” said Ball.
