Carnegie High School senior Lanham Mabry has a full schedule in his final year before heading off to college. Mabry is a member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams all while serving as a class officer and being involved in FFA. 

Like many FFA members, it was in middle school when Mabry first decided to join his local chapter. He has been a member ever since and is involved in many activities with FFA. 

“I first got involved in FFA my eighth-grade year,” Mabry said. “My brothers were both in FFA and most of my friends were thinking about joining FFA. Also, my first Ag teacher Mr. Nix he opened up a whole new world for me.” 

Mabry said he enjoys meeting new people from Oklahoma and the project he gets to work on in Ag mechanics. 

“I enjoy meeting people from all over Oklahoma and making projects for our spring auction,” Mabry said. “I do not show, but for anyone interested in FFA, I say do it. You will not regret it. It will get you out of your little bubble and comfort zone and you feel like you are a family in the organization.” 

As a student-athlete, Mabry said he loves being around his teammates and competing with them on the field. 

“I love the atmosphere of our basketball team; it feels like a family. It’s that way in football and baseball as well,” said Mabry. 

Mabry is making plans for life after high school. 

“I plan on attending Oklahoma State University and getting a degree in Agribusiness,” said Mabry. 

The senior said his father has been a role model for him. Mabry said he is the hardest working person he knows and never gives up and encourages him to try new things.
