Velma-Alma’s Cam Wiggins – Presented by Marcus McEntire

When you are a part of a team, not only do you have to prepare yourself physically and mentally, but you also have to trust that your teammates are putting in the work that they are supposed to be. Cameron Wiggins is a multisport athlete at Velma-Alma High School and he says that he and his teammates do a great job of working together to get the job done.

“All of our players are expected to pull their weight and everyone is equally important,” he said. “You never know when someone’s going to get hurt, and someone else will have to step up into that position. We all work hard so that we are ready in case we are called on.”

A senior at Velma-Alma, Cameron plays basketball, baseball, and golf. He is also a member of the Beta Club, Future Farmers of America, the National Honor Society, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

While he enjoys competing alongside his teammates, Wiggins is fairly new to Velma-Alma but says that it feels like the place he is supposed to be.

“The highlight of my career would have to be moving to Velma-Alma and being a part of this great community,” he said. “I consider it an honor to be able to represent the school and the community when I play. Even though I transferred in as a junior, the school and community have accepted me as one of their own and I’m proud to represent them.”

Cameron says that he owes a lot of thanks and appreciation to some special people in his life that have helped him become the person and the athlete that he is today.

“My mom is my biggest role model,” he said. “She has always been there for me. Also, my dad for helping me get to where I am with my basketball career. Coach Tinsley has made the biggest impact on my life because he was the one that help me give my life to Christ.”
