Chickasha’s Colton Troup shares his goals for basketball season – Presented by Hicks Western Wear

VYPE: What are your goals for this season?

Colton: My goals are to just play as hard as I can and do my best so that I can help out my team in any way and work to make my family, community, and myself proud.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Colton: Basketball has taught me how to have a good work ethic, how to handle difficult situations, and how to be a team player.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Colton: It would have to be my 8th grade math teacher, Mrs. Abera Alexander. She always showed she cared for and believed in every student and showed us to never give up.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Colton: My dad. He inspires me to be the man I’m trying to become. His work ethic is what I strive for. All the money and time he’s put into my basketball career is so unreal and I couldn’t thank him enough for that. He pushes me to better myself everyday.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Colton: John Karl Van Ness, I look up to him and he pushes me to be a better person on and off of the court. I can’t wait to see what the rest of our high school basketball career holds for the two of us.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Colton: I enjoy the bonding and relationships we get to build while being on a team. Any time we get to be together is always great and I know that we will never get these days back so I try to enjoy every moment with them.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Colton: I would take my best friend Kobi Bennet, because he has always been there for me and we hold each other accountable. I would go to Bora Bora because it is so peaceful and has beautiful scenery. It is definitely one of the top things on my bucket list.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Colton: I am passionate about basketball because I have put so much time and dedication into it because I truly love it. Basketball is basically my life and I want to go far in it. I want to be the first in my family to do so and I want to make my community proud.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Colton: I would like to say thank you to all of my coaches for putting your time and trust into me. I would also like to thank VYPE for allowing me to do this interview and getting to tell more about myself.
