Weatherford Eagles Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by More than Medicine

Coach Grant Givens

21-22 Record 24-4

Head coach Grant Givens and the Weatherford Lady Eagles are looking to have another good season after coming off a 24-4 season and a trip to the semifinals in the Class 4A state tournament. “We have some players that will have the opportunity to step up and play bigger roles for us,” coach Givens said. “We also have some seniors that have played a lot of basketball here and know what it takes to get back to the state tournament.”

Leading the way is senior guard Jordan Hoffman (Sr.) who brings tremendous athleticism to the court and has the ability to get to the rim and score. Hoffman is also an outstanding defender with a relentless willingness to compete. She is a Division I talent and has already committed to continue her basketball career next year at Cal Poly. Addy Hoffman (Sr.) is another great all around player and scorer who gets it done on both the offensive and defensive end. “She can score the ball at all three levels and has a high basketball IQ,” coach Givens said. Kennedy Stewart (Sr.) has been a starter for two years and brings size and toughness inside. Stewart rebounds the ball well and has a soft touch around the rim and makes shots difficult for opponents with her length.

Harlie Chism (So.) played varsity minutes last year and is expected to play a bigger role this year after Weatherford graduated some players. Coaches are excited to see what she can provide to the team with more involvement on both ends of the court. Marley Teasley (So.) is another underclassmen expected to step up this year. Teasley can shoot the ball at a high percentage from behind the arc and is willing to do whatever is asked of her to make the team better. Shyla Navarre (So.) is one of the hardest working players on the team and is quietly confident. Navarre is the type of player that is indispensable to a team’s spirit both on and off the court.

Other players to look for include: Dasia Givens (Fr.), Braelee Epp (So.), Reese Roof (Fr.), Julieanna Cooper (So.), Andrea Stalder (Jr.), Dacey Morris (Jr.), Brinlee Glassey (Jr.), Talyn Payne (Fr.), Kinzie Kardokus (Sr.), Katen Daniel (Sr.), Kennedy Stewart (Sr.), Avery Hahn (Fr.), Jaden Bradley (Fr.), Payton Mills (Fr.), and Ashley Helfrich (Fr.).
