Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by First National Bank & Trust Co.

Coach: James Hall

21-22 Record: 11-15

The Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks and head coach James Hall head into the winter season with two starters returning from last year’s team. This year expect “a lot of changes in the program and how things are going to be done,” Hall said. “It’s just a matter of getting the players to buy in and come in ready to work everyday… but with returning players and new additions it should be an exciting year.”

Ma’Lek Murphy (Sr.)  returns from last year’s team and previously led the team in assists and rebounds while managing to score at an efficient rate. Don’t be surprised to see him do the same again this year. Coaches say there is nothing on the floor that he cannot do and is almost impossible to stop in the open court. Murphy has the size to play at the four but will often bring the ball up the floor and run point. Look for him to break out in transition for quick points.

Colton Troup (Fr.) will get the opportunity to play significant minutes for the first time at the high school level. While Troup is still growing he can score from all three levels and is a tenacious defender on and off the ball. He will bring energy to the floor and is looking forward to making an impact this season. Also look for Cade Rayburn to make serious contributions. He is a defensive minded player who positions his body well and crashes the boards with tenacity. Coaches describe Rayburn as the type of player who shows up everyday ready to work and get better. He never takes any reps off and has a motor that never stops.
