FFA Spotlight – Altus High School’s Ava Friese – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Ava Friese, a freshman at Altus High School, has a full schedule that includes cheer, student council, FFA and more.

Being part of the cheer team at Altus has been a great experience for Ava.

“I love being on the cheer team because I constantly have great friends who are there, and I can rely on. It pushes it to be my best, and always give 100 percent with everything I do. I am also involved with cross country, powerlifting, and track,” Ava said.

When Ava was in the third grade, she joined the 4H Club and would later join FFA when she entered the eighth grade.

“I had always had a passion for animals and agriculture, but it was my older sister Emily who had always been a part of the organization made me so enthusiastic about “showing her up,” Ava said. “I love everything about FFA. From the livestock to the friends and family you grow to love, it is an all-around great organization that builds leadership, cooperation, and sportsmanship.”

Ava also serves as the president of the opening and closing ceremony team and is part of the livestock judging team. She also participates in speech competitions, creed and quiz bowl.

“Ever since third grade, I had shown lambs with my sister, until she graduated my seventh-grade year when I switched to pigs,” Ava said. “My biggest influence is Emily. She is confident, kind, and hardworking. She always 100 percent in FFA, and I hope I will be like her throughout high school.”

Ava also serves as secretary for her class, and she volunteers with Special Olympics. After graduating, Ava would like to attend Murray University as part of the rodeo team. She would also like to attend the University of Colorado and become an attorney.
