WOSC Athlete Spotlight: Boone Apache’s Kodee Hrbacek – Presented by Western Oklahoma State College

High school students have many decisions they have to make as they begin to get nearer to graduation. One of the biggest decisions they have to make is what they are going to do once they walk across that stage. For some college is the next step, others may immediately enter the workforce or join the militoary, or do something else. Kodee Hrbacek graduated from Boone Apache High School in 2020. She says that she chose Western Oklahoma State College for a number of reasons.

“I chose to attend WOSC because it was a good fit for my career and my education path,” she said. “Also, it was nice that it wasn’t too far from home. I play softball at Western and it is my second year, I am a utility player and pitcher. I instantly clicked with the team after visiting so it was an all around good fit.”

Softball has been a part of Hrbacek’s life for as long as she can remember. She says that playing the sport has been a great experience.

“I got started playing softball when I was about three years old,” she said. “My mother always played so she had me learning to play as soon as I could walk, so when I was old enough, I joined the t-ball teams and the rest is history. I enjoy playing softball because It creates lifelong friendships and helps you learn lessons that go beyond the field. It is great to be a part of a team that has great support of each other on and off the field.

Though she has enjoyed her time at Western Oklahoma State College, Kodee is not done. She has her next step already ready.

“I received my degree last May in Animal Science and I will be graduating with my second-degree in Liberal Arts in May 2023,” she stated. “After I graduate from Western, I plan to attend Cameron University to graduate there with my degree in radiology technology.”
