Thackerville’s Cheer Team – Presented by Owens Insurance Agency

A team’s success, no matter the sport, depends in large part on their chemistry and how well they work together. If there is friction or negativity amongst the team, the success may not be a good as it could be. In her second year of coach the Thackerville High School cheer squad and she says that teamwork is one of the things that they do well.

“My team’s biggest strengths would be working together as a team and being able to work with any situation that is thrown at them,” Hatfield said. “This team has shown lots of confidence in front of the crowd and their ability to get the crowd up and cheering. Their Physical Strength is unbelievable, It takes a lot of strength to throw someone in the air and these girls work really hard at getting new stunts down.”

Senior co-captian Kaitlynn McCage says that she enjoys cheering alongside her teammates as well as cheering on the Wildcats.

“What I enjoy most about cheering for my school is making signs and raising school spirit,” she said. “I also really enjoy the fact that me and my teammates always have fun, no matter what we are doing.”

Helping the team chemistry are different outings and bonding experiences. Coach Hatfield has one in particular that she and the girls really enjoyed.

“On our way to one of our farthest away games we made kind of a day out of it,” she said. “We went up to Medicine Park for lunch at the Plantation and walked the little town. The highlight of the trip was driving up Mount Scott.”

Kylie Schlueter is a junior and the other co-captain for the team. She likes being a role model for the younger students in particular.

“The thing I enjoy most about cheering for our school is being involved and spreading school spirit,” she stated. “I like getting the other students excited and seeing the smiles on littles kids faces when they see us in our uniforms and stop to say hi. My team is great because no matter what, we always make the best of situations. We pick each other up and challenge each other to do better. All the girls are very helpful and if the rest of us are down you can always count on at least one person to cheer us up.”
