Athlete Spotlight – Ninnekah’s Savannah Jackson – Presented by Gerron Smith Shelter Insurance

Senior Savannah Jackson is a four-year starter on the Ninnekah High School fast-pitch team, where she has been the catcher for the past three seasons.

“Savannah is leader on the field,” coach Shawna Norman said. “She is the type of player that every team wishes they could have. She encourages others when they struggle and helps them see that they can succeed.”

As a pitching and catching duo, Jackson, alongside her twin sister, Sydney, led the Lady Owls to back-to-back district titles the past two seasons. At the plate, Jackson has batted at least .400 in all four seasons. She was also named to the all-conference team after her junior and senior seasons.

“I think what makes her stand out to me is the fact that she is a natural leader,” Norman said. “She always encourages the younger players and genuinely wants to help them. She has a great attitude in everything that she does.”

Jackson is committed to playing collegiate softball at Hesston College in Hesston. Jackson might be joined by her sister, who will also play softball at the next level. Jackson is also a member of the Ninnekah cheer squad and slow-pitch team. Outside of athletics, Jackson is involved in STUCO and is on the academic team. Upon graduation, Jackson plans to study early childhood education to become a teacher.

“I just want to say that she deserves the best in life,” Norman said. “I know this softball season has been incredible, but it wouldn’t have been without Savannah on our team. She is an incredible player, and she will be missed next year.”

Jackson credits her parents, Scotty, and Letitia, for her success on and off the softball field.

“My dad has been one of my coaches for years and always helps me with my game,” Jackson said. “They both have always supported and encouraged me with everything.”
