Marlow Outlaw Cheer Spotlight – Kyah Blundell – Presented by Coaches Corner

High School athletes put in a lot of time and effort to be prepared for competition. Kyah Blundell is a multi-sport athlete for the Marlow Outlaws, and she says that while the work is hard, it is great to have the support of the community and the school.

“It has definitely taken a lot of practice to get where I am today,” she said. “Also, keeping a good mindset has helped me be a successful athlete. It means a lot to me to represent our school in sports. Everyone’s always so proud of us even if we don’t win all the time. It is so nice to have the backing of the community. They are a big help because they really make sure we feel appreciated and loved.”

Blundell is a senior at Marlow High School where she is a member of the cheer, track, and cross-country teams. The cheer coach at Marlow, Amy Herchock, says that Kyah is an all-around outstanding athlete that works hard.

“Kyah is a senior co- captain this year and a four-year cheerleader,” Herchock said. “She was selected to the Varsity All-American Cheer squad this past summer. Kyah is versatile and an excellent cheerleader who can cheer, jump, and dance, and is willing to be thrown into any stunt without hesitation. She gives her best to her squad and is a kind person. While she isn’t my most vocal leader on the squad, through her words, she is an excellent leader through her example to those around her. Kyah is also a state qualifier in Cross Country and Track for the past three years in addition to cheering.”

Throughout her life, Blundell has had her life impacted by several different people, but she says that there are a few that have had a bigger influence on her.

“My parents and grandparents are very important people in my life,” she stated. “They are always there, and they are the ones who motivate me. My biggest influences and role models would have to be my coaches because they are at every practice and event helping us get through everything.”
