Lone Grove’s Caden Gilmore – “Talk of the Tailgate” presented by Taco Bueno

Varsity football player for Lone Grove High School, Caden Gilmore adding his name to the VYPE Top 100 list after his junior season when he amassed more than 2,000 yards and 20-plus touchdowns in one season. His performance made him the “talk of the tailgate.” He has been called the “heart and soul” of the team, but Gilmore just wants his team to win.

“This team is truly a band of brothers and we will fight for each other until the bitter end. There isn’t an ounce of quit in us no matter what our situation may be,” said Gilmore.

As a leader, Gilmore believes in being accountable to your coaches, teammates and to yourself.

“Being accountable is a big part of being a leader because football season is a long, rough season. Showing up every day and being an accountable teammate is what makes great leaders,” said Gilmore.

One of his favorite memories as a Longhorn quarterback came earlier this season.

“Throwing five touchdowns in the season opener is definitely a stat that I think is pretty neat and one I am proud of,” said Gilmore.

Later this semester Gilmore and his senior teammates will take the field for the final time. It’s a day he will always remember.

“Just getting to enjoy every day of this last season with the guys I’ve played with my entire life has truly been a blessing,” Gilmore said. “Lone Grove is always competitive in any sport we play in but we also have a great community feel and our education system here is top notch.”

Gilmore is making plans for his future beyond high school sports.

“I plan on attending the University of Central Oklahoma to get my Bachelor’s degree then pursuing graduate school to become an optometrist,” said Gilmore.
