Empire’s Mace Montieth – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Ok Ag Credit

Empire High School’s Mace Montieth is not only the FFA chapter president, but he is also a member of the student council, on the academic team, in National Honor Society and is part of the school’s media productions program.

Montieth first got involved in FFA when he was in the eighth grade and now, he is looking forward to serving in his final year of high school.

“I am the chapter president, I am involved in extemporaneous speech, farm business management, I have done livestock judging, opening, and closing ceremonies, plenty of chapter events, and FFA shadow program for elementary students,” Montieth said. “I do not show any animals, but I think the FFA has evolved past just being about showing, and I believe anyone can be involved.”

It was an uncle who first introduced FFA to Montieth and encouraged him to join. Since then, Montieth has embraced everything the FFA has to offer.

“I think the thing that I enjoy most is being with my chapter on trips and at events,” Montieth said. “My advice for new members is to join and try to everything possible. Your advisor will probably let you and help you, if possible, I would also go to chapter meetings.”

Montieth said his older brother has been a big influence in his life as well.

“A big influence on me has always been my older brother. He always shows support in the events that I do, and shows up when he can,” said Montieth. Also a member of the varsity football team, track and powerlifting, Montieth said he would like to continue his education in college and earn a degree in medical research.
