Teacher of the Month – Hollis’ Kadi Parker – Presented by Jackson County Memorial Hospital

Kadi Parker has been an educator for fifteen years and has spent fourteen of those years educating students in Hollis. For Parker, being an educator is a family tradition and one that she feels very passionately about.

“I am from a long line of educators,” Parker said. “My grandpa was the Superintendent in Hollis and growing up my parents were educators in Altus.”

Throughout her adolescence Parker saw the impact that other family members were making on the community and wanted to follow in their footsteps.

“I was inspired my entire life watching the impact my parents made on kids’ lives,” Parker said.

Today Parker is fulfilling her childhood dream of making a difference in her community.

“Currently, I am the physical education teacher at the elementary school,” Parker said. “I get to teach Pre-K through fifth grade. I am also the elementary basketball coach.”

Parker finds that working with children is very rewarding as she gets to watch them grow up and learn and develop a love for physical activity and education.

Looking toward this fall Parker has several fun activities planned for her students that she is excited about.

“I have numerous activities planned such as flag football, a basketball season, dance mania, an elementary track meet, and an obstacle course day,” Parker said. “Kids look forward to these events and work extremely hard getting ready for them. I love to watch kids compete.”

Outside of school Parker likes to keep herself busy in the community and keeping up with friends, family, and her church.

“Most of my time is spent with my family going to ball games, livestock shows, and farming,” Parker said. “In addition, I love serving as a youth director in my church and supporting my youth kids in their activities.”
