Coach: KENNA HUNTER
OUTLOOK
Hard work in the summer may translate to more wins this fall. Head coach Kenna Hunter is looking to build on the 16-16 season a year ago as the Lady Cats prepare for another season on the diamond. “They have been working hard this summer and have set some high goals. If we will play together as a team we will have a great season,” said coach Hunter.
VYPE Top 100 selectee Kylee Byars (P, C, IF, So.) is a versatile player who gives coach Hunter several options when shifting the infield. “She is a kid that plays multiple positions for us and works super hard to help her team be successful. I expect a lot of great things from her this year,” said coach Hunter.
Raygan Barnes (P, UT, So.) is another young pitcher the Lady Cats have on the roster. Coach Hunter said of Barnes, “she is a pitcher and gives us so many opportunities to win but she also is a huge contributor in our lineup. She will drive in runs when we need them.”
One of the leaders for Thackerville is Kaitlynn McCage (UT, Sr.). McCage brings senior leadership to the dugout and outstanding play in the field. “She sets the tone for the style of softball we want to play. She will play different positions for us this year but will help lead us to where we want to be,” said coach Hunter. Another player to watch is Mariah Hendsbee (P, UT, Fr.) who could see some time in the circle this year. Makenzie Kretzescmar (UT, Sr.) is a player coach Hunter expects to help the team in the box and in the field.
Other players to watch include Natalie Davis (OF, Sr.), Kiara Salazar (IN, Sr.), Tarah Riggs (IN, Sr.), Gabby Anthony (UT, Jr.), Kylie Schlueter (UT, Jr.), Gabby Salazar (IN, C, Jr.), Reagan Vinson (OF, Jr.), Hazel Hamilton (OF, So.), Kaylee Hatfield (OF, Fr.), and Taryn Reynolds (OF, Fr.).
