Athlete Spotlight – Am-Po’s Addisyn Peterson – Presented by Bryan’s Car Corner

By Derrick Smith

There are a couple of different athletes that compete at the high school level. One is just there to play sports and when high school is over, they are done. The other enjoys competing at the high school level but has goals of wanting to compete at the collegiate level. Addisyn Peterson is in the latter group.

“I have always wanted to play in college,” she said. “And now, here I am in my last year of playing in high school and after graduation, I will be heading to Seminole State College to play softball. It is very exciting.”

Peterson is a senior at Amber-Pocasset High School, where she is a member of the softball team. While she enjoys competing and the game, she says that there is one

aspect of the game that drives her.

“The grind of the game is what motivates me the most,” she said. “I love that it always keeps me on my toes. It takes a ton of hard work and commitment to be the best of the best. Softball is not a sport that you are just naturally good at. It takes practicing every day and never giving up while playing a game of failure.”

Her love of softball flows over into her social media accounts, where a local softball player is one of her favorite people to follow.

“Jayda Coleman is probably my top person on social media,” she said. “She plays centerfield at the University of Oklahoma and is always posting real-life situations and positive ways to solve them and just positive things in general.”

Peterson says that the biggest role model in her life is someone that she is very close to and had made a huge impact on her life.

“One of my biggest influences is my dad,” Addisyn said. “He did not have much as a child yet he works his butt off and has

provided more than enough for our family all while being by my and my sibling’s sides every step of the way.”

Outside of sports, Addisyn is also involved with the student council and yearbook.
