OFFENSE
The Hollis Tigers have been playing an Independent schedule for the last three years and are very excited as they get a new opportunity in 2022 to compete in the Class B District 1. The Tigers have high expectations this season, with several key returning seniors. Hollis will base their offense out of the flex and want to control the tempo of the game. They have six starters returning on offense, many of whom will appear on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Brody Shelby (6-0, 180, Sr.) is a leader on the field and in the classroom. He has produced over 4,500 yards total yards over the course of his career. Braxton Whisenant (6-2, 215, Sr.) has rushed for over 1,800 yards in his three years at Hollis and Zach Mefford (5-10, 175, Sr.) is another capable back that can run between the tackles or catch passes out of the backfield. In 2021 he had 750 yards from the line of scrimmage which Rowdy Randall (6-1, 170, Sr.) equalled as a wide receiver. Kaden Rollins (6-1, 185, Sr.), a tight end with good hands and blocking capabilities, will appear wherever his team needs him.
DEFENSE
Moving into Class B, the Tigers will bring their 3-2-3 base defense, and plan to utilize their athletic ability and adjust formations as necessary. Shelby, a presence everywhere on the field, was the A-2 Safety of the Year as a freshman and sophomore and had another stellar season in 2021 while playing as an Independent. He looks to continue that success in Class B this season. Linebacker Xavier Cervantes (5-9, 190, So.) is a young student of the game and always plays with a high motor. JT Salazar (5-10, 220, Sr.) and Whisenant bring good size and athleticism to the defensive front and Kaden Rollins (6-1, 185, Sr.) is a versatile playmaker who can line up in several different positions and will play a big role in the Tiger defense this season. Also expect to see Chris Disque making appearances in different positions after working extremely hard in the offseason.
