OFFENSE

Coach Colt Allison enters his sixth year leading the Hobart Bearcats into the new season as they replace seven offense starters. However, Hobart has a solid group of young emerging talent. With more depth across the board, and an older, stronger offensive line, Allison believes his team will score more points this season out of their pro I formation. “We want to be physical and run the football,” Allison said. “We will use multiple formations to gain an advantage in numbers and use play action and counter schemes to take advantage of an overly aggressive defense.” Jaxon Allison (6-5, 250, So.) and Flint Martin (6-4, 250, Jr.) return to the offensive line and with another year under their belts and solid offseason in the weight room they should clear the way for the Bearcat running attack. Fullback Boedey Jarvis (6-1, 180, Sr.) and tailback Rett Madden (5-10, 165, Jr.) will line up in the backfield and work to wear down the opposing defense over the course of the game. Quarterback Holden Jones (5-11, 175, Sr.) will be tasked with leading the offense, controlling the tempo, and taking advantage of what the defense is giving him.

DEFENSE

With four starters returning on defense this season, the Bearcats want to play with aggression. Expect to see them most often align in an aggressive 5-2 defense and bring pressure from multiple positions on the field. However, based on personnel and situations, they will be adaptive and try out multiple fronts over the course of the season. Allison and Martin shine as impact players on both sides of the ball and are a force in the trenches. Together the two have toughness, understand the game, and have great work ethics that allow them to be successful on either side of the ball. Madden also appears as a two-way starter and is an impactful player at linebacker. Thatcher Heglin will also find his way into the rotation and is a player that coaches say does everything work and always competes.
