Reece Villines Top 100 Spotlight – Presented by Weatherford Dental Care

Going into the 2022 season Weatherford football head coach Reagan Roof acknowledged that the Eagles will be a young team this year, but have a quality group of seniors on the roster that he expects to step up and bring leadership to the team. One of those players expected, and willing to do so, is VYPE Top 100 player Reece Villines.

Villines, a senior, plays quarterback for the Eagles. In 2021 Villines threw for over 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns. Villines is a level-headed student-athlete that plays well under pressure and is looking forward to the season and knows that his experience and understanding of the game will be key to the Eagles success this fall.

Villines was a part of the Weatherford program that made it to the state championship a few short years ago. At the time Villines was only a freshman, but he believes that being on the team and getting to experience a run all the way to the championship provided some perspective on what it takes for teams and individuals to achieve success at a high level. This year Villines wants to see his team have similar success.

“I would like our team to win our district,” Villines said.

When Villines needs additional motivation or support he turns to his dad.

“My dad is a big role model for me,” Villines said. “On or off the field.”

After high school Villines plans to attend OSU to continue his education, however, he’s open to attending another school to continue his football career if a scholarship is offered.

Outside of football, Villines is active in FFA, plays baseball, and regularly attends First Baptist Church in Weatherford.
