Weatherford

Weatherford Fastpitch Softball Preview – Presented by Eagle Realty

The Weatherford Lady Eagles have a talented group returning this fall after posting a 20-14 record last season. Although the team will be fairly young, Weatherford is returning all but one starter from its 2021 squad and head coach Rick Morris is looking forward to a great year of competition. Harlie Chism (IF, So.) started her freshman season at shortstop but can play just about any position in the infield and is no slouch at the plate with a bat in her hands. “Chism is one of the most talented players I have seen,” Morris said. “I am looking forward to how she progresses over the next several years. It will be a sight to see.” Another great young contributor is Marley Teasley (P, IF, So.). Teasley is a talented pitcher and can control the game from the circle with a variety of pitches. She saw significant playing time last year and gained great experience and provides great production in both offensive and defensive roles.

The Lady Eagles have three seniors on their roster in Kennedy Stewart (IF, Sr.), Hayden Warren (OF, Sr.), and Caton Young (OF, Sr.) and coaches will look for them to provide a veteran presence in the dugout and lead the team on and off the field. Dacey Morris (3B, Jr.) returns for her junior year and will primarily appear at third base but can also provide some pitching relief. Karsen McPherson (C, So.) saw some action last year and looks to have an even bigger role this year behind the dish. Coaches speak highly of her work ethic and say that she is another young talent to keep an eye on over the years. Weatherford kicks off the season in early August with two early tests in the Elk City Festival and then hosting the I-40 Classic a few days later.

Other players to look for this year include: Carsyn Chase (UT, Jr.), Lanee Gilbert (UT, Jr.), Cydnee Henderson (OF, Jr.), Kinsley Klaasen (OF, Jr.), Juliane Cooper (OF, Jr.), Dacey Morris (P, IF, Jr.), Ebany Smith (OF, Jr.), Kyleigh Pebley (OF, So.), Gentry Schmidt (OF, So.), Jaden Bradley (UT, Fr.), Kaitlyn Bryant (C, UT, Fr.), Kamri Bryant (P, IF, Fr.), Payton Mills (IF, Fr.), and Reese Roofe (UT, Fr.).
