Amber-Pocasset’s Sean Tallent – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Bryans Car Corner

Senior Sean Tallent plays baseball at Amber-Pocasset during the fall and spring seasons, where he starts in the outfield at either center or right field. Tallent is a two-year starter for the Panthers and also enters the circle as a relief pitcher. This past spring, Tallent helped the Panthers make a run to the Class 2A state tournament after the right-hander “got hot in the postseason”, according to coach Cheyenne Graham.

“Sean is Mr. Steady,” Graham said. “He’s always in the right place at the right time. He’s a good line-drive hitter, who can really handle the bat in bunting or hit and run situations. He isn’t a guy people notice on the field, but he’s a coach’s dream because he’s always willing to do what’s best for his team. Including being the hit-by-pitch champion.”

Tallent finished his baseball career with a .346 batting average, 100 hits, 75 RBIs, and a 1.45 ERA on the mound.

“Sean’s just a great kid,” Graham said. “He helps the junior high group and they all look up to him. He will go on to do great things and hopefully will continue to come by and be a part of our program.”

Outside of athletics, Tallent is involved in FCA, and NHS while carrying a 4.0 GPA. Upon graduation, Tallent plans to attend Redlands Community College for two years to get an associate’s degree in psychology. After Redlands, he either wants to pursue a bachelor’s degree or go straight into youth ministry.

“I’ve always felt a calling with ministry,” Tallent said. “I also volunteer every Sunday in the sound booth for my church.”

Tallent credits his dad, Ryan, and coach Graham, for his success on and off the baseball field.

“My dad has always been someone who I can talk to and just get advice from on anything,” Tallent said. “Same goes for coach Graham with baseball. He’s always willing to help me with my game and push me when I’m on the field.”
