Clinton’s Kat Meacham Future is Bright – Presented by K&S Tire

Sophomore Kat Meacham is four-sport athlete at Clinton High School, where the underclassman competes on the softball, basketball, golf, and track and field teams.

On the softball team, Meacham is a two-year starter at the catcher position. She also competes on a travel team, Oklahoma Ultimate, where she plays first base. On the hardwood, Meacham took her sophomore season off but will return to the Lady Red Tornadoes basketball squad for her junior season.

During this spring season, Meacham was the two-bagger on the girl’s golf team that qualified for the Class 4A state tournament in 2022. Shortly after competing in the golf state tournament, Meacham traveled to Catoosa, where she competed in the track and field state tournament. Meacham was the runner-up in the shot put and placed third in the discus this season after winning the Class 5A discus title as a freshman in 2021. Meacham is also a two-time regional champion in the discus and made all-state in 2021.

“Kat is a fierce competitor in the discus and shot-put throwing events,” coach Russ Radford said. “You can never count her out of a competition because she has been known to save her best throw for last. Kat is a great example that student athletes can excel in both the classroom and in multiple sports.”

Outside of athletics, Meacham is involved in key club, student council, and national honors society while carrying a 4.0 GPA. She’s also involved with her church’s youth group and volunteers at softball and track and field camps, where she gives lessons for the discus and shot put.

“Kat and all her teammates are doing their part to help the sport of track and field grow locally by helping our youth,” Radford said. “Her favorite way to give back is by helping with the Clinton elementary track meets.”

Upon graduation, Meacham wants to attend the University of Oklahoma, where she plans to major in accounting. Meacham credits her coaches, parents, Russ and Des, and her older sisters, Conner and Kennedy, for her success in and out of athletics.
