Healdton’s Camdyn Cook – Athlete Spotlight Presented by Owens Insurance Agency

Athletes can have a number of different people that they look up to. While professional athletes may be some people that they look up to, their role models can also be people that have been a part of their life. For Camdyn Cook, the person she looks up to the most is someone she knows well.

“I think the biggest role model in my life would be MikaelAnn Worsham,” she stated. “Mainly because she exhibits all of the qualities that I want to portray. She is hardworking, determined, kind, and helps anyone that needs it. She also is in the medical field which is what I want to pursue in the future.”

Cook attends Healdton High School where she is a senior. She is a member of the cheer and softball teams. During her career in both sports, Camdyn has invested her share of time in order to become the best that she can be.

“It has taken a lot to get where I am today,” she said. “Hard work, determination, and a good attitude. I have learned that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”

Healdton cheer coach Robin Needham says that while Cook is an outstanding cheerleader, she is also a great all-around person.

“I have witnessed Camdyn excel in all areas of her academic and athletic journey through school,” coach Needham said. “She always shows great initiative and diligence. Camdyn has all the things a coach looks for in an athlete to exceed their expectations. She is precise, focused, and excited about everything she attempts. She shows these qualities in the classroom and out. As a student, Camdyn has demonstrated a love of learning and the level of commitment necessary to succeed in college and beyond. Camdyn is a great role model to all young girls striving to be just like her. She has been an asset to my school and town. It is rare to meet a high school student who is so mature, organized, and results oriented. She is truly one of a kind.”

Along with her involvement in athletics, Camdyn is also a member of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America program, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, BETA, 4-H, student council, and yearbook.
